A home to be operated to provide pastoral, healthy, social, psychological, recreational and educational services for elderly in the central of the residential districts, thus, keeping them close to their families and their social environment to promote a positive psychological sense and deepen their communication with the members of the community. These homes are a day clubs for the elderly and they are distributed across the governorates of the kingdom.

 

These homes are managed by non-governmental organizations, charitable funds and private institutions which are licensed by the Ministry of Labour & Social Development and are technically supported by the Ministry.

The objectives:      

  • Create psychological and social atmosphere for the elderly in their community
  • Integrate elderly and communicate them to the members of society in their environment and social surroundings.
  • Provide privacy for the elderly and not to keep them alone in the shelter homes.
  • Provide social, psychological, health and entertainment care for the elderly.
  • Care for the elderly whom families suffer from negative circumstances.
  • Implement and develop appropriate rehabilitation programs for the elderly and benefit from their abilities and their potential.

Services provided by Homes:

 

1.Psychological, social, recreational and rehabilitation services to engage the elderly in the community thus, promoting the feelings and psychological assurance.

 

2.Communication between generations through the promotion of linkages among individuals in the community and through visits, foreign rounds and various meetings.

 

3.Health services, including physical therapy services and movement programs for elderly.

 

4.The exercise of crafts and professional hobbies in spare times, encourage the elderly to recover their motor skills naturally and urge them to trust themselves.

 

Establishment Guides:

 

1. Submit a license application to the Ministry of Social Development with the following attachments:

  • Licenses and documents that support the application
  • Statement with the exact amount and source of funding the home.
  • The name of manger responsible for all technical, administrative and supervision works of the home.

2. The application to be registered in serial numbers

3. Renew license every two years upon a request submitted to the Ministry at least two months before its expiration.

 

 

Terms of Opening a Home:

1. Independent building according to elderly services standards and meets occupational health and safety requirements approved by the concerned authorities.

2. Determine the purpose of establishing the house

3. Provide administrative and technical cadre.

4. Prepare business requirements in the home such as transportations and others.
