H.E Mr. Osama bin Ahmed Khalaf Al-Asfoor, Minister of Social Development and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for the Care of People with Disabilities, confirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain is under the prosperous reign of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the diligent follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, pays great attention to the category of “people with disabilities,” noting that Bahrain was one of the first countries to ratify the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which was preceded by the issuance of legislation, laws, and ministerial decisions to care for the rights of this category, towards Integrating them into society. This came during the second day of discussing the comprehensive national report (first and second) for persons with disabilities in the session dedicated to discussing the report within the (30th) session of the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), at the Palais des Nations in Geneva. During the discussion session, the delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain briefed the members of the UN Committee on the developments regarding the progress made in the Kingdom’s commitment and its pioneering role to guarantee the rights of persons with disabilities, and the support, services, care it provides and the provision of all requirements and needs that guarantee them effective community participation, reviewing the initiatives and programs guaranteed by the esteemed government. , which would preserve their rights, care for them, and enable them to participate in the construction and development process. In their responses to inquiries received from members of the UN Committee, the delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain affirmed that the Kingdom continues to achieve tangible progress within the framework of its ongoing efforts to enhance the rights of this group, as it seeks with all determination to provide the necessary support and create a comprehensive environment and participatory platforms for them, noting that the legislation and measures it has taken The government contributed significantly and influentially to developing policies and implementing effective plans and strategies that ensure integration, coordination, and community partnership. For their part, the Chairman and members of the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) praised the great progress achieved by the Kingdom of Bahrain in terms of supporting persons with disabilities, and the clear responses to all inquiries.
