The welfare services are concerned with the provision of aspects of caring and rehabilitative services for the entitled Disabled with different categories of disabilities after performing different procedures that include registering the services’ applicants, conducting the social researches and determining the requirements, assessing the extent of the need, and identifying the economical, social, and psychological statuses and other things.
General Objectives:
The provision of certain apparatuses for the assistance of Disabled, to increase the level of their independence in daily life, and to practise their rights.
Required Documents:
To fill up the specified form.
A report about the case from the Ministry of Health – Psychiatric section.
Copies of the C. P. R. of the Disabled person and the parent.
Two (2) personal photographs of the Disabled.
A copy of the passport.
The Services Provided by the Unit:
Provide rehabilitative equipment for the assistance of individuals with special needs, and that includes wheel – chairs, medical earphones, crutches, children carts, and special apparatuses for Disabled children and other things.
To get a reduction of traveling air-tickets fares, in coordination with Gulf Air company, and to provide exemption tickets for public transport fare.
To provide free training for driving manual and automatic vehicles for individuals who obtained training licenses that are issued by the General Directorate of Traffic and Licensing at the Ministry of Interior. The provision of this service is confined to those who are physically Disabled and persons who have a learning disability.
To produce identification cards for the Disabled that indicates his identity and the type of his disability.
Types of disability:
Physical disability, learning disability and dual disability.
Provision of jobs for those who have special needs in companies and establishments, in order to integrate them into the society and provide their economical requirements.
Age Categories:
From 18 years and above.
Documents required form the Work’s Applicants:
To fill up the specified form.
A medical report about the condition form the Ministry of Health indicating the type of disability.
A copy of educational qualifications or vocational qualification.
A copy of the C.P. R. of the person with the condition.
Two (2) personal photographs of the person with the condition.
The service, in addition to psychotherapy is available in the disabled Centers and Homes (NBB Rehabilitation Home for disabled children and Children Day Care Center) and it can be obtained by following the steps outlined below:
To submit a written application to the Directorate of Welfare Rehabilitation, and enclosing with it a copy of the C.P.R. and a medical report about the service applicant.
To register the application at the Rehabilitation Home and giving the applicant a card that indicates the application number and its date of reference.
To conduct a field social study about the applicant and to identify the type of the required service.
To prepare medical and social files.
To obtain an affirmance from the parent indicating his agreement with the service regulation in cooperation with the Home or Center.
