The Bahrain Centre for Child Protection was opened on 13/05/2007 under the patronage of Social Development Minister, Dr. Fatima Bint Mohmmed Al – Bulooshi. The Centre is considered the central body that looks after child protection and undertakes the  responsibility of assessing and following up the child who encounters ill-treatment, physical and psychological harm, negligence and sexual abuses. The Centre provides and facilitates the services that relate to the assessment, investigation, therapy, and follow-up of those children, in liaison with various concerned Governmental and national bodies.

1. To work on the provision of child protection against ill- treatment from the family and society.
2. To work on protecting the child from harm during the investigation.
3. To provide psychological, welfare and legal services and to liaise with the concerned bodies.
4. To rehabilitate the family in order to keep the child in his family environment, where possible.
5. To find an alternative family for the child in case he encounters ill-treatment.
6. To promote the child and society awareness about child protection and rights.
7. To follow the implementation and application of the rules and agreement related to child protection.

The cases that the Centre deals with:

•          Physical and psychological harm cases.
•          Sexual abuses cases.
•          Severe negligence cases.

 The way to Convey Notifications to the Centre:

1. The centre receives all notifications concerning the ill-treatment of the child.
2. The Centre receives the cases that are transferred by the concerned bodies of child protection in the Ministries of Justice and Islamic Affairs, Interiors, Health, Education, and by the Security Centers and Public Prosecutions.
3. The Centre receives notifications and complaints from children and their parents, and from practitioners including doctors, specialists, teachers, and other citizens.

1. An interview by the social specialist
2. Medical and legitimate check-up.
3. Health care.
4. Assessment and psychological support.
5. Assessment and welfare support.
6. Assessment and schooling support.
7. Assessment and legal support.
   

The services that are provided by the Centre:

1. Provision of childcare when he encounters physical or psychological harm.
2. Provision of medical treatment.
3. Provision of psychological, social and educational services.
4. Coordination of legal and juridical services.
5. Provision of temporary or permanent alternative care in case of extreme necessity.
6. Assessment of the status of the remaining children in the family.
7. To rehabilitate the child and family and equip them to re-integrate the child in his family.
8. To follow up the case from studying educational, psychological and social aspects.
