“Dar Al Karama” Shelter Service for Homeless and Beggars

"Dar Al Karama" Social Care for taking care of beggars and homeless, as it is a governmental social institution affiliated to the Ministry of Social Development, Department of Social Welfare. It is concerned with the provision of care and different services for beggars and homeless people

    1. He/She should be Bahraini citizen or resident in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

    2. He/She Should be caught practicing begging or homelessness for the first time.

    3. He/She should be free from any contagious diseases or mental disorders.

    4. To be accommodated through the official authorities.

    5. Preserving the residents' privacy by signing the agreement on the principle of strict confidentiality.

    1. Receipt of the inmate and his signature on the accommodation form.

    2. Opening a file for every beggar or vagabond.

    3. Conducting the initial medical examination by the home nurse.

    4. Conducting social and psychological research to find out the reasons for the practice of begging and vagrancy.

    5. Contact the resident's family and inform them about him in order to cooperate with them regarding the case.

    6. Refer the person who is able to work to the various employment offices to search for suitable work for him or his family.

    7. The referral and registration of those whose status is proven for financial assistance within the Social Security Law at the Ministry of Labor and Social Development or other charitable bodies.

    8. Taking a pledge from the beggar or vagrant not to practice this activity again.

    9. The house receives all age groups, including men, women and children, accompanied by a relative who is transferred through the police stations.

    10. The house receives all family members whose homes are exposed to fire.

When referring a beggar or vagabond to be deposited in the home for the first time, it follows the following: -

  1. Providing free emergency accommodation for all nationalities in cases of disasters.

  2. Implementing a daily program that specifies the dates of waking up, personal hygiene, eating meals, and periods of recreational and social activity.

  3. Connecting residents to follow health appointments or judicial procedures in the courts or providing transportation for children in schools with stationery and clothing supplies for children and their families, in addition to allocating a classroom equipped with computers for remote study and providing a tutor for some materials.

  4. Providing all personal care requirements for residents and their families.

  5. Contact the Ministry of Education to register or transfer students and follow up on their academic affairs.

  6. Agreement with the administration of the Youssef Engineer Health Center to follow up the health cases of residents around the clock.

  7. Providing a lawyer or free legal advice in cooperation with some legal authorities.

  8. اInvolving residents in recreational activities, national celebrations and annual events.

  9. The participation of some residents in educational, health, social and extension lectures and seminars.

  10. Preparing a comprehensive statistical information for residents and their categories.

  11. Providing the Ministry of Labor and Social Development with a quarterly and annual report on the cases residing in the home, which includes the achievements made by the home and the obstacles in order to improve performance.
