Academic qualification grant program in partnership with community centers working in the field of disability:

Since 2011, an academic qualification grant program has been implemented between the Ministry of Social Development and the heads of 12 centers for the boards of directors of NGOs responsible for civil centers working in the field of disability, based on Cabinet Resolution No. (01-2058). This disbursement is based on a set of approved criteria according to the type of disability and the number of beneficiaries from each center. Below is a list of 16 community centers working in the field of disability, which include the centers for mobile units.

Managing and Operating the Mobile Units:

The Ministry seeks to provide many free services by supporting mobile units through the community partnership program with civil society by joining efforts and promoting social responsibility, so contracts are made with civil society institutions or the private sector in managing these units, which are:

  • The mobile unit for people with disabilities in partnership with the Bahraini Society for Intellectual Disability and Autism, which was established in 2007 and aims at early intervention for persons with disabilities through the "Portage" system for rehabilitation with the provision of physiotherapy services, academic integration programs and behavior modification programs.

Takaful initiative for Disabled

Takaful 1 "On Rehabilitating Children with Disabilities"

This Initiative aims to provide contributions to the private sector and individuals for the purpose of paying rehabilitation fees for a low-income child or a number of children with disabilities enrolled in special rehabilitation centers. This, in turn, contributes to overcoming the difficulties that prevent those children from receiving their needed rehabilitation or from continuing receiving such rehabilitation. By this, it has become possible to reach all groups of children who need early rehabilitation and intervention, thus granting them the chance to realize their self-sufficiency and social and vocational integration. In fact, the rehabilitation of 10 persons with different disabilities in the private centers throughout the 2019 / 2020 academic year has been guaranteed by a number of philanthropists and well-off companies.

Takaful 2 "On Providing Devices and Aids for Persons with Disabilities"

This Initiative aims to provide contributions to the private sector and individuals by virtue of making all necessary devices and aids available so as to facilitate the lives of persons with mobility disability without imposing strict requirements and standards that would preclude them from fulfilling their needs. This is undertaken by means of providing the latest modern technology devices to the disabled who deserve them, such as wheelchairs with special specifications, medical beds, car hoists, and electric lifts for those who are sure of their actual needs. About 80 devices with special specifications have been supplied since the start of the initiative in 2019 until today.
