The Minister of Social Development inaugurates a workshop on “Qualification of Elderly Care Institutions in the Field of Preparing Sustainability Reports”

Today, Thursday, His Excellency Mr. Osama bin Ahmed Khalaf Al-Asfour, Minister of Social Development, opened the training workshop entitled “Qualifying elderly care institutions in the field of preparing sustainability reports,” which was organized by the Ibrahim Khalil Kanoo Social Club for Parents, in cooperation with the Regional Network for Social Responsibility, in the presence of Mr. Ahmed Al-Banna, Chairman of the Club’s Board of Directors, and the participation of specialists in this field and institutions caring for senior citizens in the Kingdom. The specialized workshop addressed a number of topics, including the concept of sustainable development, its historical development, its importance and types, methodologies for preparing its reports, and global initiatives for preparing these reports, as well as models for its application in elderly care institutions. In his speech, in which he began the training workshop, the Minister of Social Development praised the efforts of the Ibrahim Khalil Kanoo Social Club for Parents, for the development services it provides to senior citizens, and its community initiatives aimed at providing aspects of care for the elderly in accordance with the community partnership framework, as well as rehabilitation programs to benefit from their expertise. And their integration into society, praising the theme of the workshop to empower elderly care institutions in a way that contributes to improving their vision and institutional mission within a development perspective, by raising institutional performance and competitiveness, within the laws, regulations and legislation in force in the Kingdom of Bahrain, to ensure achieving sustainability. He also explained that the participation of elderly care institutions in the training workshop reflects the extent of societal awareness and their keenness to advance institutional work, enabling them to play a complementary and supportive role to what the government and private sectors play in employing sustainable development goals, by following advanced frameworks for the concept of elderly care. His Excellency stressed that the Kingdom of Bahrain continues its development leadership in order to protect the rights of the elderly and preserve their dignity, and will spare no effort in promoting positive and effective communication with this group, and working with all diligence to provide them with comprehensive care, pointing out that the Ministry of Social Development has set a clear vision supported by programs and projects. Aiming to achieve protection and care, and provide social and developmental services for the elderly, praising in this context the support of the Ibrahim Khalil Kanoo family for development and social projects in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and their national role in achieving comprehensive community development.
